After I did the same in all of the subfolders, I was able to remove the subfolders and then successfully remove the directory from the Shared Folder tab. So the problem is now resolved. When I press the Remove button and then press the Finish button on the resulting confirmation window the following error dialog appears: Failed to delete the shared folder The shared folder cannot be deleted because one or more files are open.

Answered by:. Archived Forums. Windows 7 User Interface. I have found a simple workaround for this problem, which is to simply move a file into the empty folder. Then the folder can be deleted.
But this is not a good solution in general because I have to find and fix whatever folders are broken for my build script to execute successfully, for example.
Just a note -- it happened again. The folder appears in Windows Explorer, and I can click on it and see its properties. Nothing unusual there. From the command prompt, the folder does not appear no autocomplete and I get "The system cannot find the file specified" when I try to delete it.
