I had same issue as that of Mr Aayush, but the problem solved once I extracted firmware from zip file and then selected the file again. I could update firmware subsequntly. I did the reconfiguration too. But still the red light remains red light.

If you are having this issue from last 7 days, then your modem is probably affected. Please repeat the process once more. However if you are gettiing the red led recently, then problem could be on the internet port.
A red light on your modem only does not mean that you are affected. There could be few more reasons behind that. One major reason of getting red light on your modem besides getting affected is if the physical internet port at your local exchange does not match with the port that is configured on software. If its the Adsl, you may do the following……lift the receiver of your landline telephone through which you have the bsnl connection for 4 secs and hang up… it may start blinking after sometime!!
I am having a weird problem. Any clues on this? Alright the first thing u must do while posting a query is be specific.. Maybe that wud make it easier for to answer your queries………. Any service provider without decent support is not worth the headache. I strongly recommend going for a private player.
Bsnl is only good as long as it works. If it stops for any reason at all, god help you. But later on I perhaps cleaned my syatem with some speeding up PC softaware and now today when I checked my internet is not working.
Even when I tried setting up my modem, I typed And one more thing is i do switch-off the power button for power saving.. Yes you can but you will have to configure your modem to bsnl settings…in your modem page that you can access by typing I was using it with cable so far.
I wanted to connect it via wireless and after lots of attempts I was able to do it. In the process, I reset it to factory settings. Good news is I am now able to connect it wirelessly.

Do not mention what you tried to do. Just say that the modem is not working. There is no official firmware available for WAG4, then from where you got one for upgrade? Your router is of no use now, if within one year or on rental get it replaced from bsnl, dont tell them that you updated the firmware.
